About Owen Electric Company

Owen Electric Company (OEC) is a rapidly growing electrical contractor delivering complex industrial, mission-critical, and hyperscale data center projects across the Southeast. We operate with a field-first culture, disciplined execution, and a deep commitment to Safety, People, and Quality.

As our hyperscale data center portfolio expands, procurement has become a critical execution function. We are building a procurement organization that is proactive, schedule-driven, and tightly integrated with project delivery.

Position Summary

The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading procurement strategy and execution for hyperscale data center projects, with a focus on long-lead electrical equipment, vendor alignment, and supply-chain risk management.

This role is not transactional purchasing. The Procurement Manager is expected to understand project schedules, technical requirements, and execution risk, and to actively drive material availability in support of field operations and commissioning milestones.

The position works closely with Project Managers, Schedulers, Engineers, Estimating, QA/QC, and vendors to ensure materials are bought out, released, tracked, and delivered in alignment with project needs.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Strategy & Planning

  • Develop procurement plans aligned with project schedules, phasing, and execution strategies.
  • Identify long-lead and high-risk materials early, including switchgear, UPS systems, busway, PDUs, RPPs, and specialty equipment.
  • Coordinate procurement sequencing to support prefabrication, installation, and commissioning milestones.

Vendor Management & Buyout

  • Lead vendor sourcing, evaluation, and selection in coordination with estimating and project teams.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and commercial conditions to protect OEC’s interests.
  • Issue purchase orders and subcontracts in accordance with approved scopes, schedules, and budgets.

Material Tracking & Logistics

  • Maintain accurate procurement logs, equipment trackers, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate logistics planning, storage, staging, and site deliveries with field leadership.
  • Monitor vendor performance and proactively address delays, shortages, or quality concerns.

Schedule & Project Integration

  • Work closely with Schedulers and Project Managers to align material deliveries with the critical path.
  • Support recovery planning when procurement risks threaten schedule or commissioning milestones.
  • Provide clear visibility into procurement status for project and executive leadership.

Quality & Compliance Support

  • Ensure procured materials comply with contract requirements, approved submittals, and technical specifications.
  • Coordinate vendor documentation, certifications, and data required for QA/QC and turnover.
  • Support factory testing, inspections, and witness testing as required.

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify supply-chain risks and develop mitigation strategies including alternate sourcing or resequencing.
  • Track procurement-related lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support standardization of vendors, equipment, and procurement processes across programs.

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in procurement, supply-chain management, or project delivery within electrical construction.
  • Direct experience procuring mission-critical or hyperscale data center electrical equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction schedules, long-lead equipment, and field execution needs.
  • Proven negotiation skills and vendor management experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and equipment requirements.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

Why Owen Electric Company

  • Opportunity to lead procurement on some of the most complex hyperscale data center projects in the region.
  • High visibility role with direct impact on schedule certainty, execution success, and margin protection.
  • Strong integration with project, field, and executive leadership.
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and long-term career growth opportunities.
  • A culture that treats procurement as a strategic execution function, not a back-office task.
